As former Green Bay Packers star David Bakhtiari comes back from surgery, how much longer is he thinking about playing in the NFL?

It has not been an easy couple of years for now former Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari. Injuries have really derailed his career, as we haven’t seen him on the field much in the last three seasons.

Due to injuries, Bakhtiari has played in just 13 games in the last three years, 11 of which came in 2022. In 2023, Bakhtiari appeared in just one game for the Packers, as he simply hasn’t been able to stay on the field.

Despite numerous surgeries and missing so much time, David Bakhtiari is determined to play once again at a high level. Recently, he spoke about how much longer he is considering playing, here’s what he had to say via ESPN.

“My goal right now is just to make sure that I not only fully recover but I can withstand and play the game that I want to play but also play and be there for a team no matter what,” Bakhtiari said. “I’m not a reliever guy, I am your cornerstone guy. Someone that’s not only going to play in September but in December and into February and obviously hopefully for another couple of years.”

Hopefully for Bakhtiari, he is able to make a full recovery and get back on the field in 2024. While the Packers cut him for obvious reasons due to injuries the last three seasons, there is no denying that when healthy, David Bakhtiari is an elite left tackle.

However, while he might want to come back and be a starting left tackle in the NFL, that might not be realistic at this point in his career with his injury history. As of now, he is still a free agent and depending on how his rehab goes from surgery, he will be trying to get on a team this summer.

Hopefully, the former Green Bay Packers standout is able to get healthy and continue his career on his own terms.
