The Green Bay Packers listed quarterback Jordan Love as a limited participant on their initial injury report Wednesday because of a back injury ahead of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

The designation came from an estimated walk-through practice, not a full session, so the team will monitor Love over the next two days before Friday’s final report sets his status.

Love had not appeared on an injury report at any point this season until now. He played every one of the Packers’ 75 offensive snaps in their 23-13 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

In that game Love completed 23 of 41 passes for 276 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also scored on a short run and absorbed three sacks.

Through six games Love has completed 135 of 226 passes for 1,684 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions, producing a 91.8 passer rating. Those numbers place him among the league’s top passers in yardage and scoring.

Love told reporters there is “no chance” he will sit out against the Lions despite the back soreness. He said the lighter Wednesday session helped the area feel better.

The Packers enter the NFC North matchup at 4-2 after winning three straight. Detroit sits at 3-2 following its bye week and will host the game at Ford Field.

Wide receivers Christian Watson (ankle) and Matthew Golden (shoulder) also landed on the limited list Wednesday. The pair has combined for 59 catches, 1,039 yards and nine touchdowns this season, giving Love two of the league’s most productive deep threats.

Lions coach Dan Campbell called Love the Packers’ “secret sauce” this week and singled out the downfield connection with Watson and Golden as a primary concern for his defense.

Veteran Tyrod Taylor remains the only other quarterback on the active roster and would start if Love were unavailable. Taylor has made 19 starts and taken more than 4,200 offensive snaps since 2018, though he has seen just two regular-season snaps with Green Bay.

Left guard Aaron Banks (knee/toe) and cornerback Brandon Cisse (shoulder/neck) were also estimated as limited. Receiver Bo Melton (back) was the lone player who did not participate.

Running back Josh Jacobs was not listed, indicating he took part fully as he returns to the offense. Tight end Tucker Kraft and center Sean Rhyan, both checked on the field against Dallas, also avoided the report.

The Packers have two additional practices to evaluate Love’s back before deciding whether to list him as questionable, doubtful or out for Sunday. Early indications point toward him remaining available for the divisional contest.
