The Green Bay Packers have drawn interest as a potential trade partner for Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 10 deadline.

The Buccaneers sit at 1-5 after six games, placing them near the bottom of the NFC South and raising the possibility that general manager Jason Licht could field offers for veteran talent.

Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame listed Godwin among players who could move before the deadline and specifically named the Packers as a fit.

“Godwin has spent his entire 10-year career with the Buccaneers, but Tampa Bay should consider all calls,” Verderame wrote.“At 30, he’s a veteran who is more valuable to a team fighting for his second ring. Through six games, Godwin has 23 catches for 216 yards. Any team that acquires Godwin would pay a prorated salary of $22 million, with a $20.5 million team option in 2027.”

That salary figure is expected to limit the draft compensation Tampa Bay could receive, as the acquiring club would absorb a sizable portion of the remaining money.

Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report, who covers the Buccaneers, has also suggested Godwin is available for the right return.

“The problem is finding a taker for an older receiver without much production, on the declining value of the receiver,” Reynolds wrote.“Maybe Godwin fetches a sixth- or seventh-rounder.”

Green Bay enters the stretch run at 4-2 and second in the NFC North, but the wide receiver room is thinner than ideal after early-season injuries. Christian Watson and second-year receiver Matthew Golden have formed one of the league’s more productive duos so far, combining for more than 1,000 receiving yards through six games.

The Packers lost Jayden Reed to a season-ending neck injury that required surgery after Week 2, and his primary replacement, Skyy Moore, is on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.

In response, coach Matt LaFleur has leaned more heavily on two-tight-end formations featuring Tucker Kraft, which has helped offset the loss of perimeter options. Because of that schematic adjustment and the production from Watson and Golden, the Packers are not viewed as desperate for an addition.

Godwin’s production has trended downward since a serious ankle injury cut short his 2024 season, when he posted 576 yards and 2.36 yards per route run in seven games. He finished 2025 with 360 yards and 1.36 yards per route run while missing time, and his 2026 average sits at 1.02 yards per route run amid a new offensive coordinator and injuries to quarterback Baker Mayfield.

At age 30 and with limited recent efficiency, demand for Godwin is modest, which could allow a contender such as Green Bay to acquire him for a late-round pick without overpaying.

The trade deadline arrives at 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 10, giving both front offices roughly three weeks to explore a deal that addresses Tampa Bay’s roster reconstruction and Green Bay’s depth needs.
