CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco said the Green Bay Packers’ Week 2 road game against the New York Jets is more than just another early-season matchup.
“That’s actually a MUST Win for the Packers,” Prisco said on CBS Sports HQ while previewing Green Bay’s trip to MetLife Stadium.
The comment, highlighted Thursday by NFL on CBS, lands three days after the Packers blew a 22-10 lead and lost 39-22 at Minnesota. Green Bay is 0-1 and carrying a six-game losing streak that began late last season.
A graphic shown during the segment noted the Packers have allowed 30.5 points per game during that skid. They allowed 19.0 points per game during last year’s 9-3-1 start.
The slide began after All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons tore his ACL in a December loss at Denver. Green Bay then dropped its final four games of 2025, including a wild-card playoff defeat at Chicago, before opening 2026 with another second-half collapse.
Parsons remains on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and will miss at least the first four games. The Packers have not won since he last finished a game.
Green Bay has not started a season 0-2 since 2006, the first year under former coach Mike McCarthy. Another loss Sunday would put that mark in play before a short week and a Thursday night home game against Atlanta.
The Jets are 1-0 after beating Tennessee 23-10. A victory would give New York its first 2-0 start since 2015 and a jolt of momentum in its home opener.
Oddsmakers still favor Green Bay by about 3½ to 4½ points. ESPN gives the Packers a 61.7% chance to win. Prisco picked Green Bay 27-20 in his Week 2 forecast.
The contrast is sharp. The Packers generated 419 yards in Minnesota but committed 12 penalties, turned the ball over twice and allowed 29 unanswered points after taking a 12-point lead. The Jets limited the Titans to 10 points and got 102 rushing yards from Breece Hall.
Green Bay’s offensive line was battered in Week 1. Several interior defensive linemen were limited or out of Wednesday’s practice, adding to the uncertainty on both sides of the ball.
Coach Matt LaFleur’s team has developed a habit of fading after building leads. The latest loss fit a pattern that also doomed last season’s playoff run, when Green Bay led Chicago 21-3 at halftime and still lost.
A win at the Jets would not erase those concerns, but it would stop the streak and buy time until Parsons can return, possibly around Week 5 or 6.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The game will air on Fox in a limited national window.
For Packers fans, the message from Prisco was blunt. After six straight losses and another blown lead, Green Bay cannot afford to fall to 0-2 on the road against a Jets team that just found its first win of the year.
