The Green Bay Packers are set to play their first preseason game of 2023, heading on the road to face off against the Cincinnati Bengals. These teams have gotten to know each other very well as they also partook in a joint practice earlier this week.

Heading into the game on Friday night, there will be a lot to watch for from the Packers’ perspective. It will be the first game action that a lot of players are having, which will lead to some bumps in the road. Exhibition games are always rocky at times, but tonight’s could be a little different, at least in the early going.

Green Bay is expected to have most of their first-team players out there tonight for a few series, at least on the offensive side of the ball. There are a lot of players to keep an eye on, led by quarterback Jordan Love, who is taking over as starting quarterback for the first time in his career.

Being favorites on the road is something that likely won’t happen often to the Packers in 2023, at least in the early going. But, with positional battles going on and Matt LaFleur hinting that the starters will play, they certainly have the edge going into this one.

In the regular season, that line would likely be flipped, at the very least, with the Bengals as sizable favorites. But, with quarterback Joe Burrow not taking part in the game, and a lot of the first-team offense more than likely sitting, it makes sense that they are the underdogs.

This will be a good first test for Love and the offense, as the Bengals were a stingy defense during the 2022 season. While this game doesn’t count on any official records, it will be important to the Packers. Their younger players will be getting live game reps and valuable experience heading into the regular season.
