The Green Bay Packers have moved on from several short-term additions over the past year, but one familiar name from a late 2025 waiver claim continues to pop up in roster news around the league as teams fine-tune their lineups for the second half of the season.
According to reporter Gregg Bell of 93.3 KJR in Seattle, the Seahawks released cornerback Trevon Diggs on Friday to create an opening on their 53-man active roster.
The transaction was made specifically so that guard Anthony Bradford could be activated from injured reserve in time to play Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Diggs spent the early part of the 2026 campaign on Seattle’s practice squad after failing to stick on the initial 53-man roster following training camp. Bell reported that the Seahawks are expected to try to bring him back to that same practice squad once the necessary paperwork clears.
From a Packers standpoint, Diggs represented a brief experiment during a stretch when Green Bay’s secondary was dealing with multiple injuries. The team claimed the former Dallas Cowboy off waivers on Dec. 31, 2025, just days after the Cowboys cut him to free up salary-cap space.
Diggs started the Packers’ regular-season finale at Minnesota and recorded two tackles before seeing only a single snap in the Wild Card playoff loss to the Chicago Bears.
Green Bay released him on Jan. 20, 2026, closing the books on a stay that lasted fewer than three weeks.
The 28-year-old had earlier established himself as one of the league’s top ball hawks during his peak years with Dallas. In 2021 he led the NFL with 11 interceptions, returned two for touchdowns, and earned first-team All-Pro recognition along with a Pro Bowl nod.
Subsequent knee injuries, including a torn ACL that limited him to two games in 2023, slowed his production and availability.
After his time in Green Bay ended, Diggs signed a one-year contract with Seattle in mid-August, was released at the final cutdown, and quickly returned via the practice squad. He was later elevated to the active roster this month and appeared in three games for the Seahawks, finishing with one tackle.
Bradford, a 2023 fourth-round pick out of LSU, had been a regular starter at right guard before landing on injured reserve earlier this season with knee and hip issues. His return is viewed as a boost for Seattle’s offensive line as it prepares to face an undefeated Chiefs team on Sunday Night Football.
Packers fans can treat the latest development as simply another stop on Diggs’ uneven path through the NFL after his short-lived stay in green and gold. How long he remains with the Seahawks, or whether another team comes calling for secondary depth, will play out over the coming days as the waiver and practice-squad process unfolds.
