The Green Bay Packers are still dealing with the extremely dramatic situation surrounding superstar quarterback and reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. No one knows whether he will play the 2021 season for the team or not. However, Denver Broncos star running back Melvin Gordon shared his thoughts on the situation.
Gordon’s opinion is one that Green Bay fans will love to hear. Despite all of the trade rumors surrounding Rodgers and the reports that he never wants to play for the Packers again, Gordon believes he will be back for the 2021 campaign.
In a quote shared by Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Gordon stated that he believes Rodgers will remain with the Packers.
“As far as Aaron Rodgers, I honestly think he’s going to stay with Green Bay.”
Obviously, this is a short and sweet quote from the Broncos’ running back. Denver was reportedly close to a deal to acquire Rodgers from the Packers, but that didn’t end up happening. They may still be interested, but the Packers have remained steadfast in their desire to keep Rodgers in town for this season.
During the 2020 NFL season with the Packers, Rodgers put together arguably the best season of his career. He completed 70.7 percent of his pass attempts for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Green Bay ended up making it to the NFC Championship Game for the second consecutive season, but lost in heartbreaking fashion to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If the Packers ran it back again in 2021, they would once again be considered Super Bowl favorites. That depends on Rodgers playing for Green Bay. On the other hand, if Jordan Love ends up being the starter, many would project the Packers to end up missing the playoffs entirely.
We may not know the final decision of this situation between Green Bay and Rodgers until late in training camp. He may not even participate in training camp. But, many are starting to believe that he will end up playing in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Expect to continue hearing more reports and rumors coming out of Green Bay surrounding Aaron Rodgers. The two sides will need to figure out something soon. Hopefully for the Packers, Melvin Gordon will end up being right.
