The 2023 season is one of transition for the Green Bay Packers. They have moved on from numerous key veterans in recent offseasons, starting with star wide receiver Davante Adams in 2022.
This offseason, wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb moved on, signing deals with the New York Jets. They were drawn there because of the presence of Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to Gang Green this offseason. Long-time kicker Mason Crosby also wasn’t retained as the Packers used a sixth-round pick on Anders Carlson in this year’s draft.
There are plenty of new faces that will be occupying important roles for the Packers in 2023 as they have one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. But, it should come as no surprise that the biggest X-Factor for the team, in the opinion of Ben Solak of The Ringer, is new starting quarterback, Jordan Love.
“I don’t really need to explain this one. If Love is good, the Packers will employ him for 15 years, he will contend for MVPs and Super Bowls, he will become disenchanted with the team when it drafts his successor three years too early, et cetera. If Love is bad, the Packers will have to do something they’ve had to do only a few times in the entire history of the team: scramble to figure out the quarterback position.

Quarterback is the most important position in football and the Packers are making a major change. After spending three seasons as Rodgers’s backup, it is time for the Jordan Love era to begin in Green Bay.
A 2020 first-round pick out of Utah State, Love has looked great this offseason. Teammates have raved about the progress he has made and many within the organization are confident that he will get the job done.
The biggest issue facing Love and the Packers is the inexperience on the roster. There isn’t a single wide receiver or tight end on the roster with more than one season of NFL experience.
It is certainly an unorthodox way to build an offense around a first-time starting quarterback. But, there is no denying the talent that surrounds Love. They have a chance to surprise a lot of people during the 2023 season who are underestimating them.
