Heading into the 2023 season, there is a lot of pressure on Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. There is pressure being a first-round pick to live up to expectations, as teams invest a lot of time and money into developing you.

On top of that, Jordan Love has the pressure of having to replace a future Hall of Famer at his position. He will be taking over for Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets earlier in the offseason.

A 2020 first-round pick out of Utah State, the Packers actually traded up to have the chance to select Jordan Love as the eventual successor to Rodgers. It may have taken a little longer than they had anticipated, as he was the No. 2 quarterback for three seasons before now getting his chance.

Will Jordan Love make the most of his opportunity? Projecting what he will do is difficult given his body of work or lack thereof. In three seasons he has attempted only 83 passes, making 10 total appearances with one start.

Alas, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano tried his hand at predicting what is to come for Jordan Love in the 2023 season. In his opinion, the most likely outcome is a cloudier future for the Packers.

“Love has an up-and-down campaign, showing some promise but not completely convincing the Packers that he’s the long-term option. They poke around next offseason, either bringing in a veteran to compete with him or drafting another quarterback high — or maybe even both. Love goes into the 2024 offseason with a chance to start again but no guarantee of earning the job.”

Graziano’s prediction is likely one that is shared by many football people. No one really knows what to expect from Jordan Love, as he remains a mystery heading into Year 4. But, given the state of the roster around him, it is easy to see why people are down on Green Bay.

Lacking experienced playmakers around him, Love is in a tough situation. The Packers are in a reset year, recalibrating their salary cap in the process. That has led to a lot of young players being relied upon in key spots, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

As long as the offense makes strides with Jordan Love throughout the season, the team should be happy. While they aren’t outright rebuilding, wins and losses likely aren’t as important in Green Bay in 2023 as they have been in recent years.
