Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has played decently in his first opportunity to become the team’s starter. He had some huge shoes to fill, taking over for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers and has done an admirable job out of the gate.

The Packers are 2-1 to start the season, which no one is going to complain about. They knew there would be some bumps in the road given the inexperience of Jordan Love and the players surrounding him.

They have certainly existed, as there is room for growth for the entire offense. But, for the unit to take that leap, there are areas in which Jordan Love needs to improve upon. The most important thing is his accuracy.

According to Sam Monson of PFF, Jordan Love currently has the highest percentage of uncatchable throws thus far this season. 31.5 percent of his passes have been deemed as such, a number that needs to come down.

The struggles with his accuracy were also shared by Doug Clawson of CBS Sports. Through three weeks, Jordan Love is second to last in completion percentage at 53.1 percent, ahead of only Zach Wilson of the New York Jets. He also has the highest off-target rate in the NFL at 17 percent and the worst completion percentage over expected at -10 percent in the league.

A young quarterback struggling in some regards certainly isn’t surprising. Jordan Love didn’t have many regular season reps under his belt the last three seasons, throwing only 83 passes in 10 appearances, including one start.

Despite the lack of accuracy, he has still produced some impressive statistics. Jordan Love is tied for third in the NFL with seven passing touchdowns and his 1.0 interception percentage is tied for the second lowest amongst starting quarterbacks.

The Packers have also been short-handed at the skill positions. Wide receiver Christian Watson, who was expected to be the No. 1 option in the passing game, has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury.

Starting running back Aaron Jones has also missed the last two games because of a hamstring injury of his own. But, both players are trending toward suiting up in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football.

Having Watson and Jones in the lineup should help Jordan Love’s numbers continue to head in the right direction. The fact he has played to the level he has without them speaks volumes to the talent that he possesses.
