The Green Bay Packers have elevated outside linebacker Arron Mosby from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

The move, announced by general manager Brian Gutekunst, gives the Packers an additional edge option for a short-week matchup at Lambeau Field.

Mosby, 27, enters the contest as a veteran depth piece whose primary contributions have come on special teams.

Reporters noted that this marks his third and final practice-squad elevation of the season, meaning any further availability would require a full roster signing.

Mosby’s path to Green Bay began as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers out of Fresno State following the 2022 draft. After bouncing between the practice squad and active roster as a rookie, he was waived by Carolina in August 2023 and claimed by the Packers.

He spent that entire season on Green Bay’s practice squad before returning on a futures contract.

Mosby re-signed on exclusive-rights deals for both the 2025 and 2026 campaigns, underscoring the organization’s ongoing interest in keeping the 6-foot-4, 250-pound edge defender in the fold.

Last season, Mosby appeared in 12 games and recorded eight tackles without a sack, numbers consistent with a rotational and special-teams role rather than a featured pass-rusher.

In recent weeks, he has logged 24 special-teams snaps across two elevations, reinforcing that value as the Packers manage injuries and seek flexibility on the third phase.

For Thursday’s game, the elevation provides insurance behind the primary edge group and an experienced special-teams contributor.

Practice-squad elevations are temporary; after the game Mosby will revert to the practice squad unless the team elects to sign him to the 53-man roster. With the elevation limit now exhausted, any longer-term role would require that more permanent step.

The transaction fits a familiar midseason pattern for Green Bay: elevating familiar practice-squad players to address short-term needs without committing a full roster spot.

Against the Panthers, Mosby’s presence adds a known commodity who has already navigated multiple elevations and understands the scheme.

Whether he sees defensive snaps or remains primarily a special-teams contributor will depend on how the game unfolds and the health of the edge group, but the move ensures the Packers have another body ready for Thursday night.
