There is no denying the talent that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson possesses. He has played at a high level for stretches in his first two seasons as a pro, with the only thing holding him back being injuries.

Those flashes have been inconsistent because Christian Watson has struggled to stay on the field. As a rookie, he played in 14 games and in Year 2 he managed to play in only nine. Almost all of his injuries have been issues with his hamstring.

In 2023, Watson missed the first three games of the season as he recovered from an issue in training camp. He would play in nine consecutive games, having some truly dominant moments as he knocked off the rust.

Unfortunately for the Green Bay Packers and Christian Watson, he injured his hamstring again in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He would miss the final five games of the regular season before returning for the two postseason games.

While it was encouraging to see him back on the field, his impact was minimal against the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. He caught only two passes for 20 yards, with one in each game, as he didn’t play a full complement of snaps.

Figuring out a way to keep Watson healthy and on the field has to be near the top of the Green Bay Packers’ to-do list. So far so good in the team’s offseason workouts, as the team’s passing game coordinator, Jason Vrable, offered a very encouraging update during a press conference this week.

“Said Christian Watson is “in a great place now” with his hamstring. He told him “If there’s ever a day you feel fatigued from multiple days in a row, let me know.” Vrabel said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Communication between Christian Watson and the coaching staff will be key to making sure that he is ready for the 2024 season and not hampered in any way. With expectations on the rise for the Green Bay Packers, their No. 1 receiver must remain healthy and on the field.
