The Green Bay Packers are preparing for their last preseason game of the season. They will be hosting the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field in what will be a big game for a lot of players. This will be the last chance for numerous players to prove that they belong on the team’s 53-man roster or to audition for other teams around the league.
Heading into the game tonight, one player to keep an eye on, in the opinion of Gordon McGuinness of PFF, is quarterback Jordan Love. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced earlier this week that the starters would be getting on the field against Seattle.
“Jordan Love will reportedly get the start again this week for the Packers, giving the young signal-caller a little more playing time before the 2023 regular season begins. Love has looked good in limited work so far this preseason, earning an 82.4 PFF passing grade and going 12-of-18 with a pair of touchdowns.”
It will be interesting to see just how long Love and the first-team offense play against the Seahawks. There are certainly benefits to the young offensive players getting reps in live game action, but the Packers will err on the side of caution. How much each person plays will be on a case-by-case basis.
So far so good when it comes to Love taking over as the starter for Aaron Rodgers. While the regular season is a different animal than preseason, it is still encouraging to see him playing at the level in which he is.
The Utah State product has exhibited poise and an ability to bounce back from some adversity. Whenever he made a misstep on the field, whether it was a bad read or interception in practice, he would adjust and make the play the next time around.
There will almost certainly be some bumps in the road given how inexperienced Love and his supporting cast are, but there is a lot of talent to work with. The Packers have shown that when their first-team offense has been on the field they can find success moving the ball and scoring points.
