There aren’t many things you can count on for the Green Bay Packers heading into the 2023 season. But, if there is one thing for certain, it is that they will have a strong running game led by Aaron Jones.

Entering his seventh season with the Packers, Aaron Jones is in line for a monster 2023 season. He has been projected to have a big year for Fantasy Football managers and it is easy to see why.

The Packers’ offense doesn’t have very much experience to lean on. Jordan Love is taking over as the starting quarterback, replacing Aaron Rodgers. Despite entering the fourth season of his career, he has only one start and 10 overall appearances to this point in his career.

The skill positions, except running back, around Love are just as inexperienced. There isn’t a single wide receiver on the roster with more than one year of NFL experience and his top two tight ends could very well be rookies as well.

That will put a major emphasis on Aaron Jones and the ground game to be leaned upon in the early going of the season. Luckily for the Packers, they have one of the best in the business leading their backfield.

Aaron Jones was recently ranked as a top-10 running back in the NFL by Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network. He came in at No. 10, finishing right behind Rhamondre Stevenson of the New England Patriots and ahead of Travis Etienne of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Still one of the most efficient backs in the NFL, Aaron Jones crossed the 1,000-yard threshold for the third time in his career while ranking fourth in rushing DVOA and sixth in success rate. While he’s surrendered carries to fellow Packers RB AJ Dillon, Jones is the far more accomplished receiver.

Jones will be back in Green Bay in 2023 after reworking his contract in February. The Packers’ rushing attack may become all the more important next season as Jordan Love takes his turn under center following the Aaron Rodgers trade, so Jones could be in for another heavy workload as Green Bay aims to support its young starting quarterback.”

If there is one knock against Aaron Jones coming into the season it is his ball security. He struggled with fumbles at times during the 2022 season, suffering five. It is something that he will have to work on as he is going to have the ball in his hands a ton this season.

It wasn’t something that he struggled mightily with previously, as three was the most he had in a single season prior to 2022. While he has ceded some work to AJ Dillon, as Robinson noted, this is Aaron Jones’ backfield. Outside of an injury, he should once again provide 1,500+ total yards and close to double-digit total touchdowns.
