With the NFL season getting closer, AJ Dillon of the Green Bay Packers was recently named as a player who is under pressure to perform.

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for a big 2024 season, they have many players on the roster who are under pressure to perform. While it was a great 2023 season looking at the result, it was far from perfect for the Packers last season.

This offseason, the Packers looked to upgrade the running back position and made some big changes. Aaron Jones walked in free agency and went to the Minnesota Vikings, while the Packers made a big splash and brought in Josh Jacobs from the Las Vegas Raiders.

In addition to Jacobs, the Green Bay Packers also brought back AJ Dillon on a one-year deal. In a recent article from USA Today, Dillon was named as a player who is under pressure to perform. Here’s what they had to say.

“Although Dillon is great in the locker room and beloved among fans, he faces many of the same obstacles that were in his way during his first four seasons. Dillon averaged a career-low 3.4 yards per carry last season and is, at best, the team’s second option following the Josh Jacobs signing. The Packers also used one of their third-round picks on Marshawn Lloyd, a talented prospect out of USC who claims to be the best running back in this year’s class. Lloyd’s burst and elusiveness could help him push Dillon for carries when Jacobs isn’t on the field”.

While AJ Dillon is liked in Green Bay, the 2023 season was not a good one for him. Last season, Dillon totaled 613 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and a dreadful 3.4 yards per carry average.

No matter how much Dillon is liked in Green Bay, having a yards-per-carry average under four isn’t going to cut it in the NFL. With this being a one-year deal for Dillon, he will have to prove to the Green Bay Packers and the rest of the league that he belongs.
