As the Green Bay Packers open up training camp, there are quite a few questions surrounding the team. First and foremost, can Jordan Love be the new franchise quarterback and keep the team in contention in the NFC? Secondly, the Packers need to make sure that they have enough weapons for Love to work with.

On the outside looking in, the Packers have to feel good about their young corps of wide receivers. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs lead the way, with both having big-time potential. Green Bay also went out and drafted wideout Jayden Reed in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Behind those three guys, the rest of the roster is relatively unproven. Currently, second-year wideout Samori Toure would be the No. 3 target for Love. However, there is currently an undrafted wideout who has been turning heads in Green Bay so far this offseason.

That wide receiver is former Ole Miss standout wide receiver and undrafted rookie Malik Heath.

Heath has an outside chance of making the Packers’ roster, but can improve that opportunity in a big way with a good training camp and preseason. He certainly made some noise for the team during OTA’s.

Standing in at 6-foot-2 and just under 215 pounds, Heath has a great body for an NFL wide receiver. He is strong, quick, and a more than capable route runner. At just 23 years of age, he couldn’t have found himself in a better position as an undrafted free agent.

The Packers simply need consistent targets for Love. As of right now, they truly don’t have anyone proven to be capable of the No. 1 role. After that, things get even more murky.

If Heath can continue developing and performing at a high level, he might just crack the Packers’ roster. After that, anything could be possible, especially with how injury-prone the Green Bay wide receiver corps was last season.

Expect to hear more about Heath as training camp heats up and make sure to keep an eye on him during preseason games. He is definitely one of the most intriguing undrafted rookies to monitor in Green Bay.
