The Green Bay Packers have some issues along their offensive line, particularly at the tackle position. Could that mean that a reunion with a fan favorite is in the cards?

Freddie Boston of Lombardi Ave is urging the Packers to sign David Bakhtiari, who the team released earlier in the offseason.

Bakhtiari surprisingly remains unsigned, which certainly has more to do with his extensive injury history than his actual production.

When healthy, the 32-year-old is a terrific player, although he has played in a grand total of 13 games over the last three seasons. Eleven of those contests came in 2022.

Still, the fact that no team has taken a chance on him is very odd.

So, why not Green Bay?

The Packers currently have Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom as their two starting tackles, but their depth beyond those two is questionable, at best.

That makes Green Bay a perfect landing spot for Bakhtiari, who spent the first 11 years of his career in the frozen tundra.

Bakhtiari, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, was selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He immediately became a starter in Green Bay, and by his fourth season, he was a Pro Bowler.

Overall, Bakthiari made three Pro Bowls while also earning a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections with the Packers. He notched Second-Team All-Pro honors three times.

Funny enough, the San Mateo, Ca. native was actually very durable over the first half of his career, playing in every game in five of his first seven seasons.

However, since 2020, Bakhtiari has had tremendous difficulty staying on the field, primarily due to knee issues. He played 12 games in 2020 before spending most of the last three years in street clothes.

But it would make complete sense for the Packers to bring Bakhtiari back into the fold.

The veteran is incredibly well-liked among the fan base, he is familiar with the system and, again, when healthy, he remains a very productive player.

At this point, it probably wouldn’t take much to add Bakhtiari, so it would be surprising if the Green Bay Packers didn’t at least consider a reunion.
