Preseason games don’t mean much in the long run, but for Jordan Love and a team like the Green Bay Packers, there is a lot of importance to them. Given the youthfulness of their roster, getting as many live game reps without the pressure of the game counting is beneficial.

If the Packers’ performance in their first preseason game of the year is any indication of things to come, they are going to surprise a lot of people during the 2023 campaign. Green Bay dominated the Cincinnati Bengals, winning 36-19.

There were a lot of positives to take away from the game, including the performance of Jordan Love. He was on the field for 12 snaps and two series, with the second of them resulting in a nine-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs.

Jordan Love finished the evening going 7-of-10 for 46 yards and the score, as he looked to be in great command of the offense. In the opinion of Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, that complete command of the offense is exactly why the Packers should not be overlooked during the 2023 season.

“That’s straight from head coach Matt LaFleur. A fresh start post-Aaron Rodgers could be what the doctor ordered for a Packers team that may have been burdened by Rodgers’ drama in recent years. At least there’s an element of unknown now.”

That underdog, chip in the shoulder could do the Packers some good in 2023. While many people have already written them off for the upcoming season, the talent is certainly there to surprise some people.

Jordan Love may have limited action on the field, making 10 overall appearances with one start in three seasons, but he has vast experience in this offense. He knows the entire playbook and is on the same page with LaFleur on what is expected on the field.

In the early going, the Packers are going to find success the old-school way with their running game and defense. If Jordan Love and the passing offense can click sooner than later, there will be more wins in Green Bay than many predicted.
