Jaire Alexander opened the eyes of many Green Bay Packers’ fans when he made a cryptic post on Instagram a couple weeks back. It sounded like a goodbye. That immediately led to fans and the media looking at potential trade options for Alexander this offseason.
While the post was very cryptic and seemed to hint at a potential trade, that seems to not be the case.
In his season-ending press conference today, general manager Brian Gutekunst opened up about the rumors surrounding his star cornerback. He made it clear that Alexander isn’t going to be traded.
Obviously, keeping Alexander would be the best course of action for the Packers. He has been one of the NFL’s best cover cornerbacks for the last few years. With a new defensive coordinator in Jeff Hafley, who loves playing man coverage, Alexander will be a major key for the defense.
The 2023 season was a rough one for Alexander. He missed a lot of time due to injury issues, playing in just seven total games. In those appearances, Alexander recorded 27 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble and five defended passes.
At just 26 years of age, Jaire Alexander has plenty of time to get things turned around. He did serve a one-game suspension due to poor conduct this season, but a much more serious side of him came out after the suspension. Alexander seemed more locked in and bought in to the Packers than ever before.
It will be interesting to see what the upcoming offseason has in store for Green Bay. However, it appears that a trade involving Alexander is now off the table.
