The Green Bay Packers are looking to get things back on track in Week 3 when they welcome the New Orleans Saints to Lambeau Field. It is their first home game of the season, so you know the team will be motivated to play in front of their fans for the first time in 2023. Green Bay is also motivated to get the bad taste in their mouth from Week 2.
The Packers lost to the Atlanta Falcons last week in a game that was certainly there for the taking. Green Bay led by 12 points in the fourth quarter but was unable to put the game away, losing 25-24.
It was certainly a disappointing finish for the Packers’ offense, as they gained only seven yards on their final three drives of the game. Green Bay went three-and-out on two drives and then turned the ball over on downs on their final one.
The offense led by Jordan Love will want to get off to a quicker start this week, and the possibility of that occurring is certainly there. This could be the first week that Green Bay has its full allotment of skill-position players available around Love.
Wide receiver Christian Watson, who missed the first two games of the season, was listed as questionable with his hamstring injury. Running back Aaron Jones is also questionable with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1 after missing last week.
The Packers certainly need all hands on deck as the Saints have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Not only are they a talented bunch, but New Orleans is coming into the game with a ton of momentum.
The Saints are riding a franchise-record 10-game streak in which they allowed 20 or fewer points. The only team with a longer streak in the last 25 years is the New England Patriots, who had an 11-game streak between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Snapping that streak would be an impressive feat for a young Packers offense. Not only would it show that they are a group capable of producing against an upper-echelon team, but it would certainly put them in a position to win for the second time this season.
