To find success as a professional athlete, you need to carry a certain level of confidence and bravado. Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander certainly isn’t lacking for it, as he boisterously announced his presence at Green Bay’s OTAs this past week.

“The best cornerback in the league has entered the chat,” Alexander said last week as he approached the reporters outside of the team’s locker room.

Packers personnel and fans have come to expect that from Jaire Alexander at this point. He is supremely confident in his skills and the team will need a bounceback from him after a difficult 2023 campaign.

Injuries derailed him, as there were whispers about whether or not the team would move on from him this offseason. They opted to keep him, as he is the only cornerback currently assured of a role in Jeff Hafley’s defense.

He is now the veteran other guys will be leaning on throughout the offseason, picking his brain. After being absent for most of the offseason program in 2023, Jaire Alexander is present and looking to set a good example.

“Just going into Year 7, at this point, I’m trying not to make it as much about myself and just do what’s best for the team,” Alexander said.

That is exactly what the Packers want to hear and see. Last season, their star cornerback had a few run-ins, resulting in fines and a suspension late in the season. To make sure the air was clear and everyone was on the same page, meetings were had between the star cornerback, head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst.

He is a big part of their plan defensively. A true shutdown corner when he is on top of his game, Jaire Alexander could be freed up to shadow the opposing team’s best wide receiver this season with the depth the team has in the secondary. That could help take the Packers’ defense to another level, pushing them closer to being true contenders in the NFC.
