The biggest change that the Green Bay Packers made this offseason was transitioning to Jordan Love as the team’s starting quarterback. For the last 15 seasons, it has been Aaron Rodgers under center in Green Bay, but the Love Era is now upon us.

A first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Jordan Love was Rodgers’ backup for the first three seasons of his career. It is the same path that Rodgers took when he was a late first-round pick in 2005 as he sat behind Brett Favre for three seasons before taking over.

That worked out well for the Packers, who have had 30 consecutive years of Hall of Fame production. That is a high standard for Jordan Love to live up to and it is anyone’s guess how he will respond as the starter.

In the opinion of many people around the league, he should be just fine. According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, rival executives are beginning to believe that the Packers have hit on another franchise quarterback.

“Rival executives have been impressed with quarterback Jordan Love this summer. He has a strong arm and has enough offensive talent around him to play well in his first season as the starter. There’s bound to be some overall regression due to the team’s cap situation, but the Packers might have nailed another quarterback transition.”

Well, that certainly isn’t what teams around the NFL, especially in the NFC North, want to hear. But, that is a fair evaluation. Jordan Love improved every time he stepped on the field in relief of Rodgers during his first three seasons in the NFL. This offseason, those improvements continued.

Whether it was a joint practice in training camp or a preseason game, the Utah State product produced. The Packers took an unorthodox approach to building the roster around him, as there isn’t a single wide receiver or tight end of the roster with more than one season of NFL experience.

Inexperience will lead to some bumps in the road, but there is no denying the talent those players possess. The Packers look like they will be in good hands for years to come with a young, talented roster on both sides of the ball led by Jordan Love.
