The Green Bay Packers have found a lot of success under head coach Matt LaFleur. He has done an excellent job since taking over the job back in 2019.

Since taking over as the Packers’ lead man, LaFleur has compiled a 67-33 record. Unfortunately, he has yet to take the team to the Super Bowl. That is next up on his bucket list.

Entering the 2025 NFL season, LaFleur has a chance to make NFL history. He could pass the legendary Don Shula for most wins by a head coach in their first seven seasons.

In order to break that record, he will need to come up with five wins. That should be very doable for Green Bay.

A few weeks back, LaFleur was asked by popular talk show host Kay Adams about the potential record. He played it down and showed respect to Shula in his answer.

“Well, I think we play more games nowadays, too, so,” LaFleur said. “No, he’s a legend. Obviously, I know his grandson, Chris, pretty well, and I’ve got a lot of respect for that entire family.”

There are high expectations surrounding the Packers heading into the 2025 campaign. A lot of their success or lack thereof will depend on the play of third-year starting quarterback Jordan Love.

Last season, Love was expected to be a breakout superstar. He suffered a knee injury in Week 1 that forced him to miss two games and he never looked to be playing to his full potential after that. The hope is that he can take the big leap in 2025 that he missed last year.

Outside of Love, Green Bay has put together an incredibly talented roster. Many expect them to compete for the NFC North division title, although the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears are all loaded with talent as well. At the very least, a playoff appearance is expected.

It will be very interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for LaFleur and the Packers. Should things go according to plan, he will indeed break Shula’s record.
