The Green Bay Packers put together a relatively quiet NFL offseason, but there are still some holes that Brian Gutekunst could look to fill. Among the main needs for the franchise is finding a bit more help on the offensive line. That is where free agent offensive lineman Austin Reiter could come in as a potential fit.

Reiter, one of the more underrated players available in free agency still, could provide a nice boost for the Packers. They lost All-Pro center Corey Linsley this offseason in free agency and have struggled with injuries to that unit over the past couple of years.

Green Bay did go out and draft Ohio State center Josh Myers at No. 62 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. They also brought in Royce Newman and Cole Van Lanen in the fourth and sixth round respectively.

Despite drafting a few young players, the Packers could opt to bring in more veteran depth. Reiter would be one of the best available options at a cheap price. Green Bay doesn’t have a ton of money to spend, which could make this an intriguing option.

Bleacher Report named the Packers a potential landing spot for Reiter. Here is what they had to say about the potential fit.

He’d make an interesting buy for a contender like the Green Bay Packers, which lost star center Corey Linsley in free agency. In Green Bay, Reiter would get a chance to compete for a starting job in one of the interior spots, which would equate to a win-win for all involved.

With the drama surrounding Aaron Rodgers being a primary focus for the Packers, keeping their quarterback happy is a major concern. Bringing in another quality offensive lineman always helps.

Even if the Packers don’t have the reigning NFL MVP under center when the season starts, they will need to protect second-year quarterback Jordan Love. The young quarterback hasn’t seen a snap of NFL action yet. Keeping him upright and healthy is a must.

The Packers may opt to stand pat and head into the season with the group that they already have on their roster. But, if they want to make a move to improve their offensive line depth, Austin Reiter is a name to keep an eye on.
