The Green Bay Packers offense hasn’t been close to 100 percent yet this season. In both of their games, they have been missing at least one key player; against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, they were missing four.
Wide receiver Christian Watson hasn’t suited up yet this season because of a hamstring injury. Left tackle David Bakhtiari had some swelling in his knee and missed Week 2. Left guard Elgton Jenkins was forced from the game because of a knee injury that could keep him sidelined for a few weeks.
Running back Aaron Jones was also sidelined against the Falcons, dealing with a hamstring injury of his own. Jones’s injury came on his 35-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown, as he felt his hamstring biting as he crossed into the end zone.
Updates were positive after the game, as he was seen walking around. After the injury, he was smiling and gesturing at the camera while being stretched out on the sidelines. The score had a lot to do with him being held out, as the Packers were blowing out the Bears.
Alas, things weren’t good enough for him to get on the field against Atlanta, as AJ Dillon took over the lead role and struggled. Jones’s absence was felt, as things didn’t get off to a good start this week in practice.
The star running back was not on the field Wednesday when the Packers began preparations for Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints. However, a very positive update was provided on Thursday.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jones was back at practice today. It was the first action he has seen since originally injuring his hamstring 11 days ago.
This is excellent news for the Packers as Jones seems to be trending in the right direction. Green Bay is going to need all hands on deck going up against the Saints, who have one of the best defensive units in the NFL thus far this season.
