Coming into the 2023 regular season, a lot was made about the youth and inexperience on the Green Bay Packers roster. General manager Brian Gutekunst admitted that wasn’t the goal this offseason, as they wanted to get faster and more athletic. They certainly accomplished that, it just so happens to come with youth as well.

Now, that title as the youngest team in the NFL is official. As shared by Rob Demovsky on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Packers have an average age of 25.3 years old and three years of NFL experience.

Both are the lowest in the NFL, with the next closest being 3.19 years of experience on the Los Angeles Rams and 25.42 years of age by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals are the only team in the NFL with fewer players 30+ years of age on their roster that played in Week 1 than the Packers as well.

Their center, Ted Karras, is 30 years old. For the Packers, they had three players 30+ years old on their Week 1 roster. David Bakhtiari is the oldest player on the roster at 31, while linebackers De’Vondre Campbell and Preston Smith are both 30.

For anyone who followed the Packers this offseason, news of them having the youngest and least experienced roster isn’t too surprising. They moved on from long-time stalwarts quarterback Aaron Rodgers and kicker Mason Crosby this offseason.

Numerous other veterans such as wide receivers Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard and defensive linemen Jarran Reed and Dean Lowry departed as well. That left Green Bay historically young at a few spots, such as pass catcher.

There isn’t a single wide receiver or tight end except Josiah Deguara with more than one season of NFL experience on the Packers roster. In some cases Deguara doesn’t even count as he was originally listed as a fullback on the first depth chart.
