There has been a lot of discussion this offseason about who would step up offensively for the Green Bay Packers in the 2023 season. Green Bay’s offense has undergone some major changes in the last few offseasons, as the team has gone very young on that side of the ball.

In 2022, it was wide receivers Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling departing; Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders and Valdes-Scantling signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. This offseason, quarterback Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets while wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb also ended up with Gang Green.

That has opened the door for young players to step into prominent roles with the Packers. Jordan Love is taking over as the team’s starting quarterback and the pecking order in the passing game is wide-open.

The two players expected by many analysts to lead the way are Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Second and fourth-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft respectively, they are expected to be the to-go weapons for Love this season.

Over at PFF, Sam Monson believes that it will be Doubs making the biggest impact. One of Monson’s bold predictions for the Packers in 2023 is that the Nevada product is going to have a breakout campaign.

“The Romeo Doubs hype from this time last year wasn’t a mirage; it just came a year too early. Doubs has been tearing up training camp and joint scrimmages, as well as playing solid in preseason games. He is a good receiver, but the expectations last preseason spiraled out of control and he couldn’t meet them — particularly not after suffering injury. This season, Doubs will break out as an excellent receiver and a reliable target for Jordan Love.”

The only thing holding Doubs back early in the season is a pesky hamstring injury. He is listed as questionable heading into the Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears, but opportunity knocks should he be able to get on the field.

Watson has already been announced out because of a hamstring injury and Packers’ head coach Matt LaFleur has said the injury will be handled on a week-to-week basis. That could open the door for Doubs to become the unquestioned No. 1 target for Love in the passing offense and live up to the bold prediction Monson has made.

Last season, Doubs recorded 42 receptions for 425 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. If he can stay healthy, there isn’t anything stopping him from at least doubling all of those statistics this upcoming season.
