Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was carted off the field Sunday after going down on the second play of the team’s Week 2 game against the New York Jets.
Reed caught a short pass from quarterback Jordan Love in the flat and was tackled by Jets linebacker Demario Davis as he turned upfield. He crumpled to the turf at MetLife Stadium and stayed down.
Trainers attended to Reed for several minutes. Medical staff then secured him to a backboard and used a cart to take him off the field.
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported that the entire Packers sideline came onto the field as Reed received treatment.
USA Today Network reporter Ryan Wood wrote that Reed moved his right leg before leaving, calling it a good sign.
The Packers had not announced a specific injury or any timetable when Reed was taken to the locker room.
Reed signed a three-year extension worth $50.25 million in April, including $20 million guaranteed. The deal keeps him under contract through the 2029 season.
The 26-year-old spent much of last season recovering from surgeries on a broken collarbone suffered against Washington and a Jones fracture in his left foot. Those injuries limited him to seven regular-season games, 19 receptions, 207 yards and one touchdown.
He returned late in the year and added four catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay’s Wild Card playoff loss.
Reed led the Packers in receiving during each of his first two NFL seasons. He entered 2026 with 138 receptions for 1,857 yards and 15 touchdowns in 40 regular-season games, along with 310 rushing yards and three scores.
His name did not appear on Green Bay’s final injury report before kickoff.
Reed finished with three catches for 20 yards in the Packers’ season-opening 39-22 loss at Minnesota.
Love threw for 387 yards in that game, but Green Bay allowed 29 unanswered points after building a lead.
The Packers’ first series Sunday began with a sack of Love. Reed’s injury followed on the next snap, and Matthew Golden dropped a third-down throw.
Reed has given the offense flexibility by working from the slot, taking occasional handoffs and creating yards after the catch.
Christian Watson produced 147 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings and would likely see a larger role if Reed is unavailable.
Second-year wideout Matthew Golden is another primary target for Love.
Green Bay entered the afternoon 0-1 and seeking a cleaner performance on the road. The immediate focus remains on Reed’s condition after one of the more unsettling injury scenes of the young season.
