Romeo Doubs Projected For Shockingly Low Numbers In 2023

One of the standouts this offseason for the Green Bay Packers has been wide receiver Romeo Doubs. The 2022 fourth-round pick came out of the gates hot as a rookie, picking up the slack with fellow rookie, second-round pick Christian Watson, struggling with drops and injuries.

The Nevada product quickly became a trusted target for Aaron Rodgers, as he received 4+ targets in six out of his first eight games as a professional. However, an injury in Week 9 derailed the momentum that he was building.

Romeo Doubs would miss four games before returning for the stretch run. He quickly picked back up where he left off, receiving 17 targets over that stretch. On the season, he ended up catching 42 passes for 425 yards and three touchdowns.

Given the circumstances, that is a solid season for Romeo Doubs. Heading into Year 2, he is in line for an even bigger role with Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb leaving in free agency. Thus far this offseason, it has been him, not Watson, emerging as the go-to target for Jordan Love.

However, some projections aren’t as positive about Romeo Doubs’ outlook. Over at NFL.com, they have begun Fantasy Football projections for the upcoming season. He is projected to score 147.59 points, which would rank him 61st among wide receivers.

54 receptions for 714 yards and four touchdowns is what NFL.com is projecting Romeo Doubs to finish the 2023 season with. Based on all of the reports coming from the Packers and NFL insiders this offseason, those numbers seem curiously low.

Catching only 12 more passes while playing in four more games is a conservative projection, for sure. But, his big-play skills are expected to be on full display with a 13.2 yards per reception average.

Rookie Jayden Reed is projected for numbers that finish right behind Romeo Doubs, as NFL.com believes they will be jostling for the No. 2 role. Watson is the clear-cut No. 1 based on those projections with 212.22 fantasy points, which would put him right outside of the top-25 wide receivers.
