2. WR Malik Heath
There may not have been a player who stood out more for the Packers than Malik Heath this offseason. He started turning heads during the spring with his performance and it carried right over into training camp and the preseason games.
Undrafted out of Ole Miss, Heath led the Packers in targets, routes run, catches, receiving yards, contested catches and first down receptions. He was extremely productive no matter who was under center, taking advantage of the opportunities presented to him.
Heath cemented his spot on the roster, but he could be ascending the depth chart already. There is a chance that he will be ahead of Dontayvion Wicks, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, when the official depth chart comes out.
The Packers very likely weren’t considering keeping a sixth wide receiver when the offseason began, but Heath forced their hand with exceptional play.
1. CB Carrington Valentine
Even the most optimistic of Packers’ evaluators could not have predicted the offseason that Carrington Valentine would have. A seventh-round pick out of Kentucky, Valentine has not only cemented a spot on the roster, but he could see significant snaps in Week 1.
At the very least, Valentine is No. 4 on the Packers’ depth chart currently. He was playing first-team snaps when Jaire Alexander was sidelined and could step into the role Eric Stokes was expected to occupy if he cannot get activated off the PUP list.
Valentine was excellent during the preseason, allowing only six receptions for 80 yards on 15 targets. He broke up four passes with one interception along with making nine tackles and three stops without missing one. The Packers look to have gotten a steal in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
