The Green Bay Packers finally decided to make finding a wide receiver a priority in the 2021 NFL Draft. While he wasn’t drafted in the first or second round, Brian Gutekunst made the move to trade up in the third round to select Clemson star wideout Amari Rodgers. It was a move that excited the entire Green Bay fan base.

Rodgers had openly talked about wanting to be drafted by the Packers during the pre-draft process. He even called that possibility a “dream scenario” for himself.

Now, the question simply comes down to what kind of role we should expect to see from Rodgers in his rookie year. Whether Aaron Rodgers plays for the Packers or not, Amari Rodgers is going to be a fun player to watch.

ESPN has released their league-wide projections for players on the offensive side of the football. They have Rodgers racking up 24 receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns. In addition to his receiving numbers, they have him projected to carry the ball eight times for 49 yards.

Those numbers are a bit lower than most Packers fans are hoping to see from the new receiver. Our predictions are a bit different as well, as we have him catching 35 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns.

At this point in time, no one truly knows what kind of role Rodgers will have in Matt LaFleur’s offense. It seems likely that he will be the team’s slot wide receiver, which was a major need last season. Rodgers has the perfect skill-set to be a slot wideout right off the bat for the Packers.

Throughout the pre-draft process, Rodgers received a ton of comparisons to former Packers’ star wide receiver Randall Cobb. If that ends up being an accurate comparison, the Packers will have gotten a major steal in the third round.

Expect to see the Packers look to get their new wide receiver involved early this season. Amari Rodgers has the talent to be a very special player in Green Bay for years to come. Fans should be excited about the pick and it will be fun to watch as he develops.
