The Green Bay Packers had a tense moment during their Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, suffering a narrow loss. However, the real concern came late in the game when star quarterback Jordan Love sustained an injury, later diagnosed as a sprained MCL.
Originally, Love was expected to miss 3-6 weeks, but there’s growing optimism he might return sooner, possibly as early as Week 2.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur shared an encouraging update on Love’s progress, sparking hope that the quarterback could suit up against the Indianapolis Colts.
“He’s gonna do everything he can to be out there and we’ll give him the week.”
For Packers fans, this is a huge relief. Initial fears of a season-ending knee injury were quickly dispelled, as Love’s injury appears to be much less severe.
Green Bay has a history of tough quarterbacks. From Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers, and now Jordan Love, it seems the Packers’ signal-callers are as resilient as they come.
Even if Love doesn’t make it back for Week 2, the key takeaway is that his injury is not a long-term concern.
In the event Love is unable to play, Malik Willis would step in as the starter. The Packers acquired Willis, a former third-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans, just before the season to serve as a backup.
The NFL moves fast, and Willis may be on the verge of making his first start for the Packers, just weeks after joining the team.
