The biggest storyline for the Green Bay Packers during training camp in 2023 is how Jordan Love will acclimate himself to his new role. After sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three years, it is Love’s time to shine as the starting quarterback in Green Bay.

Projecting what he will do in his first season as the starter is virtually impossible as there isn’t much of a sample size to go off of. But, people within the organization, from the front office down through the coaching staff and his teammates are confident that he will get the job done.

Cornerback Rasul Douglas spoke about the changes that he has seen in Love just on Day 1 as the team’s starter. While there were some bumps in the road, Douglas could sense the different feel compared to years past.

During a recent appearance on the Big Play Slay Podcast, hosted by Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, Douglas delved more into why in Love as the team’s quarterback. A big reason is how he has performed in practice previously.

“Last year, he was cooking us in practice,” Douglas said. “I want to let him prove his own and make his own way…we’ve just got to see and let him be him. He can make every throw, for sure. He’s definitely got it.” (H/T Packers Wire)

While Love’s in-game experience is limited, as he has only 10 appearances and one start in three seasons with 83 career pass attempts, he has plenty of reps. He has taken a bunch during practice over three years and has plenty of preseason game experience.

People on the outside haven’t seen it as practices aren’t always public, but Douglas was impressed on numerous occasions by the Packers’ new starting quarterback. He was even caught off guard by some of what Love was able to do.

“He’s good though. Every throw, he can make it. By far. Last season, he hit in the pocket with no looks and everything. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness.’ He’s got everything in his game.”

That is certainly a glowing review from Douglas, who is heading into his seventh season in the NFL. He has faced off against some of the best, so to come away so impressed by Love certainly is a testament to the work that the 2020 first-round pick has put in to improve.
