The Green Bay Packers will have some tough decisions to make this offseason. One of those decisions will be about the future of current defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
All season long, fans were clamoring for the Packers to fire Barry. However, after a great finish to the season on the defensive side of the ball, Matt LaFleur has a tough decision to make.
Does he fire Barry and look for a new candidate or run it back one more year with Barry?
Most believe that the Packers will still end up making a change. If they do that, who could they look to bring in as their new defensive coordinator?
SportsNaut recently linked the Packers to a very intriguing potential candidate. That potential candidate would be former Wisconsin Badgers’ coach Jim Leonhard.
“Green Bay needs a more aggressive defense, with a coach willing to make in-game adjustments and who won’t put his corners 10 yards back in coverage. The most important thing for the Packers is replacing Barry with a bonafide defensive guru, but Leonhard is one of the best options.”
Leonhard would certainly be a fan favorite candidate. He is well-loved in Wisconsin and is well-known as well for his hard-nosed defensive approach. There is a good chance that he could work out very well in Green Bay.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what LaFleur ends up deciding to do. We will likely hear more about this situation in the coming days.
