All eyes are going to be on Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love in the coming weeks. The starting job is his for the first time in his career as he is stepping into the lineup in place of Aaron Rodgers, who the team traded to the New York Jets this offseason.

After three seasons of sitting behind the future Hall of Famer, the 2020 first-round pick has some pressure taking over under center. It is anyone’s guess how different things will look with No. 10 replacing No. 12, but head coach Matt LaFleur doesn’t seem overly concerned.

In a recent press conference, LaFleur spoke very highly of his new starting quarterback and how he is handling the role change. The head coach also praised Love for how quickly he has grasped the Packers’ playbook.

“He definitely has complete command of our offense,” he told reporters of Love on Tuesday.

There were some whispers that the Packers were unable to fully embrace the offense that LaFleur was trying to implement with Rodgers under center. He supposedly pushed back against some changes, but the same issues won’t persist with Love under center.

This is the first chance that LaFleur and his staff will be able to showcase their entire playbook as they envision. But, how much will we see Love and the offense before the regular season? The team is going to make sure to limit his reps as much as they can.

“I don’t want to wear his arm out,” he said. “We need to be mindful about how many throws he’ll make each day and adjust accordingly.”

Those limits may only exist in practice. That is because the Packers are still considering Love being a major part of the team’s preseason plans this year.

Whatever the team decides, it is encouraging that Love has taken to the playbook so easily. He has had a lot of time to practice and learn the last three years, but going from the backup to the starter is a big step. Love has made major strides this offseason and the Packers are confident he will get the job done.
