The Green Bay Packers have played some solid football through the first two weeks of the 2023 season. Their 1-1 record is disappointing with how they played, but too many miscues in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons cost them a victory in a game they had control of.

It is never a good feeling when blowing a 12-point lead, especially when it is in the fourth quarter as it was in Week 2. The tape wasn’t pretty according to head coach Matt LaFleur, with one of the shortcomings certainly being the fourth quarter.

The Packers’ offense went ice-cold in the final quarter of the game when they had a chance to ice away the game. On three drives and 10 plays, they gained only seven yards. Atlanta took full advantage, scoring 13 points in the final quarter to escape with the win.

One of the elements missing from the Packers’ offense currently is a deep threat in the passing game. They have had a few explosive plays, but working the ball down the field has been limited.

Part of the reason for that is the absence of Christian Watson. The second-year wide receiver has missed the first two games of the season because of a hamstring injury, which has hampered the unit.

It hasn’t helped that fellow wide receiver Romeo Doubs has been limited by a hamstring injury of his own and running back Aaron Jones missed Week 2 because of a hamstring injury. That is part of the reason why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has suggested Green Bay as a landing spot for wide receiver Marquise Brown.

The Arizona Cardinals’ No. 1 receiver came in at No. 9 on Knox’s NFL trade big block entering Week 3 of the season. Brown would provide Love with a consistent deep threat, something that has been missing.

In his fifth season in the NFL, Brown would also bring some veteran leadership to the youngest, least experienced roster in the league. Set to hit free agency in 2024, the Packers would be getting a free look at Brown to see if he is someone worth keeping around long-term.

In the early stages of a rebuild, Brown is someone who could be available from the Cardinals for the right price. With an extra second-round pick coming to the Packers via the New York Jets courtesy of the Aaron Rodgers blockbuster, they have the draft capital to make a splash.
