Predicting what the Green Bay Packers will do during the 2023 season is virtually impossible given the lack of track record. There are a lot of key contributors that are stepping into new roles for the team in 2023, led by quarterback Jordan Love, who has 83 regular season passes to his name.

As a result, many of the power rankings and projections have the Packers finishing in the bottom quarter of the league. However, when attempting to project a little longer term, the outlook in Green Bay is much more positive.

Over at ESPN, they recently released their 2023 future power ranking projections for all 32 teams in the NFL. A 0-100 scale was used taking into consideration the roster, quarterback, draft, front office and coaching of each team.

Given the youthfulness and high upside of the Packers’ roster, it should come as no surprise that their outlook for the next three seasons, 2023-2025, is much better than their outlook for this season. Green Bay comes in at No. 14 on the list, which should translate to being, at the very least, a Wild Card contender in the NFC in the next few seasons.

While that is a step back from the Super Bowl aspirations with Aaron Rodgers under center, the Packers and their fans have to be happy that projections don’t have them cratering without the future Hall of Famer. Instead, they have a chance to build a sustained winner.

The Packers’ overall roster, minus the quarterback, finished 18th with a score of 80. That is something that could rise exponentially if a few of the young players develop nicely. Their quarterback position came in at 25th with a ranking of 72.7. Again not surprising as they go from a surefire Hall of Famer to an unknown commodity.

In the other categories is where the Packers really shine. Their coaching score of 88 with head coach Matt LaFleur is impressive, as that was 13th in the league. They are fourth in the league in drafting with a score of 86.3 and 10th in the front office with a score of 81.7.

Despite some dull projections for the upcoming season, the future is certainly bright in Green Bay. If LaFleur can find success developing Love and the other young players on the roster continue improving, this is a team that will surprise some people in the near future.
