The Green Bay Packers are a team that Fantasy Football managers may not be turning to much during the 2023 season, at least in the early going. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the team offensively with Jordan Love taking over as the starting quarterback.
When Aaron Rodgers was leading the offense, this unit was a gold mine for Fantasy Football managers. They knew this would be a high-scoring offense that would be friendly for fantasy scoring. But, there could be some hidden gems on the Packers’ offense in 2023.
Their running back duo of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon should help plenty of fantasy managers throughout the season. But, for people looking to take a bigger risk, the wide receiver room is where their attention should turn.
A lot of people will be tabbing Christian Watson as a breakout candidate, especially after how he finished up the 2022 season on a high note. However, the player who Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes to be a Fantasy Football deep sleeper to keep an eye on heading into training camp is Romeo Doubs.
Using DraftSharks’ rankings, Doubs is currently being selected with an average draft position of 143. Depending on how big of a fantasy league you are in, there are some instances in which he is going undrafted. That could lead to a ton of value for Doubs, who has reportedly been emerging as Love’s go-to target.
“When in doubt, you can throw it out there and you know he’s going to make a play, and he’s done a great job of going and getting the ball wherever it’s at,” Love said. “He’s made some really tough catches, and it kind of just builds everybody’s confidence. It builds my confidence in him, just being able to throw the ball out there and know he’s going to make a play.”
As a rookie, Doubs caught 42 passes for 425 yards and three touchdowns. He was actually the player who was emerging in the Packers’ passing offense first, not Watson before roles flipped in the second half of the season when Doubs battled through some injuries and Watson flourished.
Heading into Year 2, Doubs’ role will assuredly increase. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are both gone and the Packers front office didn’t sign any veterans to replace them.
Doubs is a clear-cut top-two option at wide receiver and if reports are accurate, trending toward the No. 1 option. That is music to the ears of Fantasy Football managers looking for some steals near the end of the drafts.
