With training camp underway for the Green Bay Packers, the coaching staff and front office will be able to figure out what positions on the roster need some attention before the regular season. Taking a quick peek at this as they currently stand, it is easy to pick out at least a few units that could use an infusion of talent.

One of those units is the safety position. This is arguably the weakest unit on the team as they don’t have a bonafide starter to rely on in the group. Darnell Savage Jr. is the closest to a guaranteed role but after he was benched during the 2022 season, he likely doesn’t instill much confidence.

If the Packers were going to make a move, one player who could pique their interest is Budda Baker of the Arizona Cardinals. He was a suggested target by Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report, but Green Bay may have missed their chance.

Baker accepted a pay raise from the Cardinals this week, which they hope will smooth things over with him. He requested a trade earlier this offseason as he was seeking a contract extension and a pay raise was the compromise.

Another player suggested as a trade target by Ballentine is Grover Stewart of the Indianapolis Colts. The Packers have Kenny Clark and a group of inexperienced players along the defensive line set for large roles.

Veteran Dean Lowry and Jarran Reed departed in free agency, leaving the Packers thin on experience up front. Stewart would help provide some, but the youngsters in this unit have stood out in the early sessions of training camp.

Last but not least, Ballentine suggested that offensive tackle Yoshua Nijman could be on the move. The Packers have done an excellent job of building up the depth along their offensive line, which they have needed because of injuries the last few seasons.

Right now, Nijman is behind Zach Tom on the depth chart at right tackle. His standing on the roster could come down to the health of David Bakhtiari. If Bakhtiari can prove that he is healthy, the Packers may be comfortable flipping Nijman for some draft capital.

Swing tackles with versatility are very important and teams around the league would likely jump at the opportunity to acquire Nijman. He has starting experience as well and would represent an upgrade for a few franchises, too.
