The Green Bay Packers are a team that could provide some excellent value to Fantasy Football managers during the 2023 season. While people are down on their projections when it comes to wins and losses, there are certainly some players in position to help your fantasy team come out on top.
A lot of people will be focusing on the Packers’ backfield of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. There are some places projecting Jones to have a monster season and finish as a top-10 player at the running back spot. He has some lofty goals for himself as well that would make Fantasy Football managers happy.
Dillon had a down 2022 season, as he took a step back on his production. However, he is expected to bounce back for a solid season. At the very least, the Packers’ 1B running back should be a weekly FLEX player for Fantasy Football managers.
For people seeking the best value, in Green Bay, that would come in the form of their passing game. No one knows what to expect from Jordan Love in his first season as the starting quarterback, but someone has to catch the passes that he throws.
Many people are banking on the Packers’ leading receiver being Chrisitan Watson. The second-round pick out of North Dakota State in the 2022 NFL Draft had a rocky start to his NFL career, but he came on in the second half of the season.
Carrying that momentum into 2023 would be great for both the Packers and Fantasy Football managers. Mike Clay of ESPN is expecting that to happen, as he selected Watson as the player to target in the fifth round to build a championship Fantasy Football team.
“Watson is one of my favorite breakout players this season and his name is permanently circled on my cheat sheet. The 2022 second-round pick for Green Bay barely played early in his rookie campaign but was 10th among receivers in fantasy points once he was handed every-down snaps in Week 10. Yes, Aaron Rodgers is gone, but Watson should be force-fed touches considering how young and inexperienced the team’s options are behind him.”
A big reason that Clay is so high on Watson in this spot is that he believes he has much bigger upside than the running backs who normally are going off the board. Players such as Kenneth Walker III, Cam Akers, Javonte Williams and J.K. Dobbins just don’t provide as much value in Clay’s opinion as Watson will.
Watson’s greatest asset right now is his rare blend of size and athleticism. He can blow past defenses with ease given how fast he is. But, he is also putting in the work to develop as a wide receiver, not solely relying on his athleticism.
That is excellent news for the Packers, whose efficiency in the red zone was an issue at times. Watson has worked hard to become a viable weapon closer to the endzone, which is music to the ears of the Packers and Fantasy Football managers looking to get the most out of the second-year receiver.
