Stock Up No. 1: S Darnell Savage Jr.
Coming into the season, the safety spot was a major concern in Green Bay. The team lost Adrian Amos in free agency and no one really stepped up in training camp to seize a role. Darnell Savage Jr. was the closest to a sure starter the team had and he delivered in Week 1.
Savage made 10 tackles on the afternoon, including three stops, without missing a tackle. That earned him elite run defense grades, as the Packers are now putting him in a position to play to his strengths.
His coverage grades were acceptable as well, as he was far from the biggest liability in the secondary. Returning to the form he showed in his first three seasons in the NFL would elevate this defense to a new level.
Stock Down No. 1: C Josh Myers
The Packers held a quasi-training camp battle for the offensive line this offseason. The team knew they were going to start Zach Tom, it was just a matter of where. He ended up at right tackle, which meant Josh Myers kept his spot at center.
That hold is tenuous, as best, if he continues playing at the level he did against the Bears. Myers was the lowest-graded player on the team’s offense, receiving a grade of 44.0. He struggled in run-blocking with an ugly 40.0 grade.
His pass blocking was adequate, but certainly not at a level to warrant the poor work in the run game. If he doesn’t pick things up, the Packers could consider moving Tom to center with Rasheed Walker or Yosh Nijman taking over at right tackle.
